What is Electrology?
Electrology is the practice of permanently removing unwanted hair from the body. An epilator is used to insert a fine needle into the hair follicle under the skin. The probe delivers an electrical current which damages the follicle and permanently prevents hair from growing.
Does electrolysis permanently remove hair?
Originally invented in 1875 by ophthalmologist Charles Michel to remove ingrown eyelashes, electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method acknowledged by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Laser hair removal can only claim to reduce hair growth, not permanently remove it.
Three Methods of Electrolysis Hair Removal
There are three methods or modalities of electrolysis treatment, galvanic, thermolysis, and blended) each with their own qualities and merits. The success of the modality is dependent on the skill of the practitioner and all are safe and effective at destroying the follicle cells that stimulate hair growth.
